Here is a rundown of some of the hottest products I saw at this year’s SHOT
show in Las Vegas.

Under Armour in Mossy Oak

One of the hottest “newer” brands in hunting meets one the oldest and most
respected. Under Armour is now available in Mossy Oak and together they make
one great product. Everyone is well aware of the camouflage characteristics
of Mossy Oak especially New Break Up which is what the UA Loose Gear, Heat
Gear and Cold Gear is available in. If there is anyone out there that
doesn’t know about the positive attributes of a good first layer gear like
Under Armour I will run through it real quick. When it is hot, the moisture
wicking fabric pulls the sweat off of your skin and gets it to the outside
layer of the material where it dries quickly. This keeps you much cooler
than with other fabric. When it is cold Under Armour is again at its best.
Those hikes to the treestand or up in the mountains are killers when it is
cold out. The reason? Despite the cold, many of us work up a healthy sweat
heading into the stand or up the hill. When we get to the top of the ridge
or settled up in the treestand, then of course we are stationary and
quickly chill if we are wearing clothing that doesn’t have the wicking
attributes of Under Armour. In the right, or wrong backcountry conditions
of the West, cold and clammy fabric could contribute to hypothermia and does
every year for many. This can actually even be deadly as hypothermia
contributes a number of deaths each year. At best, even for the eastern
hunter, damp clothing against your skin in the biting wind of late season
will be very uncomfortable and result in decreased time in the stand which
of course means fewer opportunities. We know what this means — fewer kills.
Under Armour in the same scenario, will pull that sweat off of your skin and
it will dry quickly even in the cool temps. Thusly, you will stay much
warmer in the same conditions by using UA.
