Illuminating your tent in the backcountry is probably not the largest concern to most hunters, but having the right tools on hand for the occasion can be a very good idea nonetheless. I personally don’t like to use my headlamp in the tent. A headlamp is tough to keep out of my hunting partner’s eyes and when suspended from the roof of the tent, is too directional to be of much use. As of late, I have begun packing a specific light for the tent and saving my headlamp batteries for the heavy pack-out back to camp or the trailhead. The three best units for small tent illumination I have found on the market today are in this lab.
