At the age of 14 I was introduced to archery through the Boy Scout’s program. My neighbor Larry Smith taught us Scouts the basics about the legendary stick and string. His stories of hunts and fun outings motivated me to purchase my first bow from my dad’s friend for $20. My new bow was old even for its time, but it was mine and all I needed to start chasing deer and elk up on the mountain behind the house. That summer I worked hard moving irrigation pipe, feeding cows and doing anything else I could do to scrape up enough money to buy arrows and the basics to set it up.
