As it got into the ghost hours of the night and we started to wind down from the adrenaline and celebration, little wisps of light started to appear. A light cloud cover had moved in, and it looked like the moon shining through. But then the lights changed. They moved and turned green. We were seeing the Northern Lights for the first time during our trip. It was at that point that I really began to understand and feel the connection hunters from so many generations ago must have had with the land, the animals and the spirit in everything. We quietly enjoyed the lights, our full bellies and each other’s company until almost dawn. I wanted that night to go on forever and wish I were still there in that moment with those friends.
