Nevada, 2008, DIY, Public Land
After 27 days of scouting and hunting, and covering every nook and cranny of their hunt unit while viewing, photographing, and filming over 100 rams, Lynn Belli finally had a great California bighorn ram in her spotting scope.
It was the final weekend of her hunt, and an earlier missed shot and several weeks of hard work were beginning to weigh on her mind and spirit. This ram, well over 160, had a way of quickly rejuvenating both. He had all the necessary requirements - an older animal sporting great mass and reasonable length. He was a beautiful representation of his species.
The rut was on and he was chasing a ewe while fighting off other suitors. After what seemed like hours, and over several miles running across the mountain after his potential mate, he finally lay down for a rest.
