Ever since my first trip to northern British Columbia I have been fascinated by the dark-colored Canada moose that inhabit that beautiful landscape. My first hunting trip for them came in early September of 2009. It proved to be early for the rut and despite many miles covered on horseback and afoot along with many long hours behind the glass it resulted in coming home empty-handed. Lesson one - hunt closer to the rut to increase your success. In northern British Columbia anywhere from September 20 through the middle of October should be considered prime rut dates.
