A couple of friends of mine hunted it a couple of years ago. One killed a 337 bull. They hired RC Carter with Big Horn Adventure Outfitters to do a drop camp for them and he put them right in the middle of the elk.

Small world! This is my brother with an area 45 bull. Not the best pic, but you can blame RC for that, haha.

Nice bull Elkoholic,

That outfitter seems to do well for its clients. 100% opportunity for bowhunters? Impressive.

The really lousy part that isn't in that article is that they took advantage of the way Wyoming allocates it's landowner tags. If you have 160 deeded acres with 2000 animal use days you can apply and automatically get a tag for that animal. It's my understanding from talking with locals out there that they broke up a number of sections of their ranch and put each 160 acre parcel under a different family member's name as owner so they could get a lot more tags. I was also told that many of the locals had felt there were a lot of violations by the Carters over the years and they finally got caught. The sentences sound good, but they really made a lot of money doing what they were. The Judge in the case is the wife of the ex Governor of Wyoming.

My wife drew a cow tag for 45. I've never hunted this area. Sure hope I can find her one.
