View Full Version : Missouri lion
A friend of mine caught this guy yesterday morning, 122 pound male. They said he probably wandered in from South Dakota. They ear tagged him and released him in a state park of all places.

This isn't the first time lions have showed up. We had a lion show up in the St. Louis metropolitan area this past fall. Our corporate attorney actually brought in some game cam pics that were captured by his neighbor. Northern Illinois is starting to get wolves which are moving in from the north (Michigan, Minnesota, etc).

Yeah. The one 20yds behind me opening day of rifle must have been my imagination.Lol kind of. :(
For a state that claims we only have the occasional few wander through, there sure have been a bunch of sitings over the past two years.. Missouri has a ton of deer, state estimates are around 900,000 or so.. I guess it was just a matter of time before the cats started moving in.

Where was he trapped?
He was trapped in Reynolds county and I think he was released in Shannon county, right across the river from our elk restoration project. Way to go MDC!
