I've had my bow for 4 years now and have never replaced the string yet, dose this affect the performance? I've talked to some that say I should replace every other year? I don't shoot it to often, I start practiceing about a month before archery season and shoot through out archery season. So I'd say about two months out of the year I fling arrows.

I was wondering that myself I know the manufacturers recommendation is usually 2 years I've had mine for 3 now and still look good and am starting to wonder if its time for new strings I probably shoot for about 6-8 months a year at least 100 arrows a week

I like to replace mine every year. More than likely don't need to, but I average 9,000 to 12,000 shots a year. That's alot to ask of your string, even with today's non-stretch strings things are going to loosen up a bit.

I think you should replace it, when it needs it. I shoot my string in when I first buy my bow, put all the extras on it: Peep, Loop, silencers, ect. Then it comes off and goes in the bow case as an extra. I put a new one on before the bow is a month old. After every season, I take my bow apart to clean it, and inspect the string for ware. If it is still in good shape it gets the required twists to put my bow back in spec if needed and stays on until it starts to show ware. If you buy a quality string, and most important take care of it, it should last you for quite a few years.

I do it just about every 2 years. Had one break on me drawing on a pronghorn that ended my hunt and you never want to have that happen in the field. Worth the investment before hunting season starts!

If you take care of your string and wax it properly it should last you two years (if you shoot alot!) When in doubt spend the money and replace it. Stretching will become an issue as well over time.

once a year for me, i could get more out of it but i shoot year around and would rather be safe than sorry, i also keep a set with peep, loop and silencers so if somthing does happen i can swap them out while i wait for another set to arrive.

Just replacing mine after five years of use. Stock Diamond black ice string and cable set. Prob 1500 shots a year at least. Took good care of it.

I replaced strings and cables every year and then decided to try and get two years out of a set. My accuracy isn't the same...I think if you shoot a lot then two years is definately starting to "get the good out of it." And keeping a spare is a must.
