It's a weather dependent hunt a lot like 194-196. Some big bucks have come out of there.

I kinda figured that after asking about 194-196 also is the deer numbers low there or too much country to cover the reason i ask i noticed that in 2010 according to NDOW for a archery non res hunter there was 0% success rate curious if u had any insight on this?

The draw will be very low for all of the mentioned areas for NR and Res for that matter. There are some huge deer in these areas but is so dependent on the snow it's stupid as DR mentioned. We hunted these areas last year and it was a bummer to only see 160" deer instead of the 190"+ we seem to find each year. We also have had some real bad fires last year that is winter range and that's not going to help for next year either. Good luck but I would burn points more North then these areas.

Are you talking 190"+ deer in 021 or 194-196? I've seen some decent bucks come out of 021, but nothing like the ones in 194-196. There are a few resident bucks that live in 021, but the hunt is mainly dependent on storms pushing the deer out of california.

Yes we see plenty in the 190" class. There is alot of non typical hs well that I've seen in the 214". And yes 194 area we get alot of migration from Cali that brings these bucks in. 021 is not the same. Res deer in 021 with 190" potential. I've seen 2 myself and a few more in the 180" class. The issue with 021 is all of the bird hunters. These guys get out and hunt their asses off for the birds and in doing so push the deer. We see the big bucks hanging out in the same areas all summer till the bird season opens then they start to move to thicker cover. Usually you can turn them up with some long days of glassing and patience.
