The California spring turkey season is only two weeks away. I'm gearing up to hit 'em opening day. I'm even taking off work the monday after the opener to try and bag the three bird limit. Any body else going?

I'm going to try and get out as well. The weather has been nice and I'm itching to get out and do some hunting.

yeah, I haven't been able to scout yet at all. I hope they will be just starting to do their thing when the season opens. Looks like the weather is in line with the season this year. Good luck and stay safe.

Every time we get a small break in the weather, I see flocks on the way home. They are looking for any opportunity to get it on! Should be a good Season if we get a break in the rains!
Best of Luck,

It should be good on Saturday. Weather looks like it's going to clear up for the opener. I’m looking forward to seeing some strutting toms myself.

Goose, try The Cleveland National Forest in San Diego County. You'll see them all over the place strutting in the open fields. Just know where your at cause the area is scattered with Private Land. Google Earth the area and look for open grass land on National Forest. I learned the area a few years ago when I ran into a Forest Ranger and he provided me with his personal honey hole map. I'll be heading out there during the week.
Also, if you make it out there carry a pig tag and some slugs in your pocket, cause feral pigs have been migrating out of the El Capitan Reservoir area and are now residing in the Cleveland National Forest. There has been several kills documented by deer hunters. I have only seen some old rooting sign. Let me know if you head out there and how you did. Good Luck

How did you do for Turkeys for the fall season in San Diego? Hunted yesterday in Palomar and did not see a thing.
