Looks like 74 opens September 15th. Does anyone remember if this is a 30 day season. Usually they are and close just before Deer season opens. Unit 90 (Deer unit that 74 is in) opens Oct. 1. I am hoping Antelope closes in 74 somewhere after the 6th of Oct. Seems like I remember hunting it several years ago around the 10th of Oct.

I finally drew my Colorado unit 3/301 buck Antelope tag with 12 points :)and it opens October 6. I have enough point and have applied for 74 for Antelope and want to combine both hunts. The Colorado unit is right on the way home and would be great to do both on one trip.

Thanks...I figured the seasons are usually around a month long. Should work out just fine. I usually don't hunt goats in the early part of the season, a little too many hunters to suit me. Just have to look harder for a good one thats all. Sure glad i got my Colorado tag, after 12 years. Area 3 is really a good unit in Co.

They actually have the new 2012 regs for antelope on line. They cut the tags in that unit from 325 tags in 2011 to 250 this year, so it will probably be a tougher draw this year. Here is the link to the regs.

Checked them out, you are right. I have 6 pts & my hunting pard has 2, so we avg 4. hope that is enough.

Correction...checked with my hunting partner and he has 3 so we avg 4 1/2.

All packed and heading out at 4:00 AM tomorrow morning. We will be filling our 3 tags apiece (a buck & 2 does ea) and on the way back staying in Baggs so I can hunt my long awaited Colorado unit 3 buck antelope tag. Probably be gone a couple of weeks.

Tomorrow by this time we should have camp all set up and enjoying a couple of steaks off the BBQ and a bit of good sippin whiskey!!

You are welcome to hunt my 40 in unit 74 ! Right where Poison Spider Rd. going west ends facing Rattlesnake Hills (sounds scarey).

Just got back from Wyoming with 1 buck and 2 does each for myself and friend from Calif....nothing really big. The one thing that struck me was the real decrease in numbers of antelope. Instead of 10 to 20 animals in a herd, now 5 to 10. Rut was going on big time with lots of solo bucks everywhere. Only saw one buck that would come close to 80" (and that was after I had already filled my tag!!), probably saw 200 or more bucks. Overall good hunt, but sure a lot less Antelope where we hunted.

The big change for me was a change in land management in the area I usually hunt. The lady that owns a lot of the land that I like to hunt has leased it to one of the large ranchers in the area. If I had'nt told the caretaker/security person that I knew both of them and had hunted the area since 1985, i might have been booted out.

Shot my buck with my 25-06 at 371 yards! Longest shot I have ever made. One of the does was shot with my .257 Wby mag at 295 yds....both one shot kills. Man I am sure not going to use any more Nolser Balistic Tip bullets as they absolutely explode when they enter the animal. They really make a mess out of the meat! The last doe was taken with the 25-06 and my old standby load with Sierra"s 117 gr boattail spitzer, great bullet performance. I'll get some pictures posted as soon as I can get some time to download them.

We came hime early because of a family emergency with my father in Calif. I will have to go out there again in the morning. Turned in my Colorado tag and got all my points back. Always next year.

Sorry to hear about your dad, hope all works out well there.

Congrats on the goats!

Those nosler ballistics do blow up, not as big a deal on elk sized game but you hit an antelope bad with an exploding bullet there might not be much front shoulder left to salvage!
