Hey everyone. I have been lurking around for a while and thought I would make a post. Even though I am new here on Eastman's I have been bowhunting Elk on public land in Montana since the mid 80's. I have Bow hunted from the Breaks back in the day when we were one of the only tents for miles to the Bob Marshall. The past 10 years concentrating all my efforts in SW Montana. This year I will be back again in SW Montana during archery season enjoying a great state and the hunt....Mark

Thanks for the welcome. I dont know about a wealth of knowledge as I am always looking for that edge to get close and being at the right place at the right time. As you get a little older I think you develop a instinct to hunt smarter and with less energy expended from day to day. It gets harder to keep up with those great mountain monarchs !! ;)

Experience will always help with sharpening the hunting skills. I hear ya on keeping up with the critters. But man when you finally see them the adrenalin sure makes it easier.

Hi Mark...nice to have you on the forum. When I draw my Missouri Breaks sheep tag this year, maybe you can give me a few pointers ;)

Man I hope you do draw and wish you luck!! I haven't hunted the breaks in years. It just got to crowded for me. I mainly hunted 621,623. I know there are some nice Rams south of the Missouri. Now days I just try and find a nice quiet place in the high country to Elk hunt.
I have a few pics of some nice Rams over the years but they are not from the Breaks. Mostly SW Montana.

I took this photo in 300. I have seen quite a few in district 3.

This was taken in 320. It took me a hour to get close but it was worth the time.

Welcome fellow Montanan!

Glad to see you here.

Thanks ! I wish I did live in Montana. My elk hunting buddy since 1985 was born and lived his whole life in BigFork. He passed away a few years ago and this is the first year since I have felt the urge to get back. Tough loosing a good hunting partner of 26 years but it is also tough not heading to Montana as much as possible during archery season.

I really like the Bigfork area and spent a lot of time there. Stop in the Bigfork Inn and have a Crispy Farmhouse Duck dinner for me!! Best duck I have ever had!!
