I purchased some Lowa Ranger GTX this year and was wondering how many of you are replacing your insoles with aftermarket ones. The boots fit great and the insoles seem to fit great, but would swapping out the insoles make them feel even better?

I'm curious about this too since all the Eastman crew recommends it. I've always just used the original insoles. What I wonder is why would quality boot companies put cheap insoles in their products?

I used Lowa Tibet Pro GTX boots all last season in the mountains. And I am a huge fan of Superfeet. They come in different sizes and molds for different foot arch types. I personally used the green ones, after trying on every different arch type.

What I did, and what I would suggest, would be to go to an outdoor store with your boots (clean your boots off of course). And place the insoles in your boot and walk around in the store for awhile to get a feel for what arch type is going to work best. You want the insole to feel slightly tight around your arch, I feel a lot of people get this wrong, as they really don't know what arch support is supposed to feel like. Since they use the stock insoles. I can't stand stock insoles. I work in the mountains all spring, summer and fall...so I love when my feet feel fresh after 16 miles of hiking in one day.

I've heard great things about the Lathrop and Sons insoles. No personal knowledge, but I plan on getting some to try out in my Lowas in the next few weeks

I used the SOLE insoles in my Lowa Baffin Pro's last season. Just purchased some Lathrop and Son's insoles and will try those out as well. Liked the SOLE's just needed something that took less volume in my boot. I think Deadeye has a great suggestion. Also make sure you're wearing the same socks you hunt in, etc. I've found I notice the differences in sock thickness, insoles, etc. and have to play around to get the perfect fit in my boots.

i have the lathrop and sons insoles and love them....very comfortable and keep your foot locked in place so you don't get blisters from foot movement.
