I may be a little late on this, but I didn't know that permethrin was used for horses and other livestock.

You can get it in 10% concentration from a feed store/ACE hardware for about $8 a pint and dilute it for use on your clothes and gear.

Just make sure your clothes are treated and dried before you put them on. Permethrin is toxic to humans if sprayed directly on skin.

Not really, it can irritate your skin for sure and some people may be more irritated than others, toxic is a strong word to use. But a 2% lotion solution is used for pharmacy reasons and most permethrin solutions are 1% or less.

FYI..the livestock permethrin has a oil base to it and could possibly leave a odor behind plus leave your boots and clothing oily.
