I finished a long, busy week of school in Great Falls, MT and hit the road to Miles City on Friday, with my boyfriend Bransen Krebs to do a weekend antelope hunt. I’m in Dental Hygiene school and he’s a hunting guide for his dad’s outfitting business Western Timberline Outfitters, so needless to say, free time for us doesn’t always come easy! Between my clinicals/classes and his busy season of guiding clients, we managed to squeeze some time in. We had this weekend hunt planned together since August, so I was really looking forward to it. I had never shot an antelope buck before, so I was excited and ambitious to get outdoors, have some fun, and hopefully get an opportunity on the buck I’ve been thinking about since I drew the tag.

Of course, living five hours away from Miles City, I don’t get over in that direction regularly, and have only been there a total of three times between last hunting season and this one. But I can say, I have left there two out of three times with a punched-out tag and a full freezer. I had success last year for my general deer tag when Bransen was able to take me out for a day in between his clients departing and new ones arriving. He usually doesn’t even get a day off, but he tagged his guys out early and had an extra day to take me. I’m sure he wanted to spend the rare day he gets off to rest and recover, but instead we were off to do more hunting. That’s how it usually works out and I’m grateful for that.
