I tried scouting for a month for Bears in Ca. I finally found were to go but now I haven't had the time to hunt.
Just curious do you know anything about pug hunts in Ca. I have no idea about seasons, areas. Sounds to me like a fun time.
I have hunted pigs a few times in Ca. Not sure about the seasons but we go in Jan. I posted in the OTHER about pig hunts and have gotten some responses. I'm looking for a outfitter in N Ca, a little closer to Reno then Coalinga were I usually go.
Pig hunts have been pretty fun. You should try it if you haven't.
I hunted on the Jicarilla and it was a fun hunt. My hunting partner got a 322lb bear and mine was about 200lb. I will be going again in april. There is so much game there, 200 inch deer, 400inch elk, 200lb tom cats, 350 lb color phased bear, whats not to like?
My New Mexico bear hunt lasted about four hours before the qutoa was filled. I had seen a giant on the border with Colorado three years running but was not able to find him in either state the last two years. I will look again next year. I have enough points to get a tag in Colorado. There is a black boar near my cabin that I see a lot, he will work as a back up bear.
I hunted black bears this year and missed a nice 300lb one at about 365yds. A few weeks later I did get a 150lb at 180yds. Spent a lot of time this year scouting and glassing, and have some nice honey holes lined up for Spring next year now. Bear chorizo (sp) tastes soooo good too.
Your best oppurtunity for pigs is to pay a outfitter and hunt on private land
