I have (or have had) guns in pretty much all of the calibers mentioned. I absolutely LOVE the 7mm-08! It is a great cartridge. I have .270's and really like them as well. 25-06 is a cartridge you really can't argue with at all, and I am really attached to my Weatherby
(Southgate made) in .257, it shoots great (so does the .240 I have, it is a one hole gun at 100 yards). All that aside, my son's (now my wifes, since the 14 yeaar old son 'Borrowed' one of my .270's and claims it as his own) .243 is without a doubt the best shooting, "can't figure out why it stomps deer into the ground", deer rifle in the gun safe. I have heard all the "it isn't as good as xyz caliber on paper" talk and all I can say is there is something about that caliber that really is a PERFECT marriage between bullet weight/available premium bullets/BC and everything else I can think of. I've watched my son shoot a lot of pretty nice white tails and flat drop them in their tracks with a .243 shooting Federal premium 100 grain Sierra Game Kings (A bullet that some people are very critical of, but those that shoot them seem to love). For the light recoil, available selection of premium factory ammo or reloading components, great rifles by multiple makers, it is hard to beat.... then again, all that same stuff is true of a .25-06. I'd say close your eyes, flip a coin and go with the toss!
The .264 Win Mag should be a consideration, moderate recoil, flat shooting speedster.....however over the counter ammo can be hard to come by at times. My father owned one in a Rem model 700 and killed many deer with that rifle/caliber. He no longer hunts and handed his beloved .264 down to me. The .264 win mag dosn't get much press these days but should not be overlooked.
Out of the two you suggested I would go with a 25-06, that round really puts the hammer on deer.
243win and 25-06rem both great rounds, both flat, I think they're both very close in trajectory, one is a short action, the other a long action.
even flatter, 257wby? 240wby?
if she can shoot a 25-06 she can shoot a 270win/130gr.,
I think my choices would be 243win, or 270win.

have you considered the 243 wssm and 25 wssm? They match the 243 and 25-06 and have a bit less recoil.
Not all rifles are the same. My Dad has a remington 270 win. That kicks like a mule. Dont no why but it does. Several people have shot this 270. And all thay say is wow. No more for me. Put a sims recoil pad on it. It still kicks. Any ideas why? Its a remington adl 270..
