How many years did it take to draw your tag for NH? My dad and I just applied for our 2nd year in a row. We're trying to draw there rather than Maine. I don't like that they'll let you buy as many chances as you can afford there.
I'll research it, but in NH do you have to bring the moose out whole? Can you skin and quarter it to get it out of somewhere difficult? Can't imagine most people run into someone with a skidder.
TW, I believe I applied for 14 years, but I think they only started offerring bonus points for the last 8. I think my odds for a bull permit were still only 1%.
Yes it is legal now to quarter one out for extraction.
It is a much better plan to just go to hunt moose in Canada. There are outfitters that do semi-guided hunts at reasonable prices.

I feel real lucky to fulfil my dream hunt considering the population crashes in Wyoming, New England & upper midwest. Saw they just stopped all moose hunting in Minnesota. In NH tags dropped from 675 to 275. I have to rate both my hunts very poor quality. Very few sightings. Had to hit a jackpot to score. Go north young man! Land-o-plenty.

I think there are some outfits that go $2,500 semi-guided. I knew one guy in Ontario but I'm not home to look for contact info. You shoud be able to find some just Googling around.
zim - did you hunt timber company property out there? I've been applying in Maine for a few years and usually pick the north maine units. Just wondering about accessibility out there in the northeast.
bb. Things work a bit weird up there. 99% of the land is owned by timber companies but it is basically all treated as public. Access is no issue for these hunts. I have 14 points in Maine and hope to draw there some day too, but odds are still only ~5%. Maine has a heck of a lot more moose than NH. To draw one of only 190 bulls tags was crazy lucky last year.
Thanks zim. Thats what I've read and heard about the timber companies. It just a little weird concept that private ground owners allow hunting access without a fee.
Not to jack the thread, but many timber companies in MT allow foot and horse traffic year round ...
