Good for him! Two years ago my son got his first elk with his 6mm Remington. His was a large cow he shot once at 350 yards. Accuracy is where it's at and with those two rounds, they typically shoot them very well. You should be a proud dad!

My son is 13 and I took him out for his second rifle season this year. We woke up and it was 19 outside and snowing in Southeast Wyoming. We drove up into the mountains and had been walking about 1.5 miles before we came upon this guy. If he had been much father away I doubt we would have seen him due to the snow. Super cool! Congrats. I bet he proud of his bull and his dad taking him on that hunt too.

We had a great time. He even got in and tried a little cutting. The best part is he told me all year he was going to carry out the horns if he got one. Well. He did try but his little 115 pound body wasn't moving much. He has had a pretty easy hunting life so far. Got a nice antelope first day last year and shot this elk by 730 am. But that makes him keep wanting to go out.
