Bitterroot, I applied for a couple jobs in Helena, thanks for the information. I went to high school over the mountain in Deer Lodge, and I have family there so it would be handy.
I am a year out but some federal jobs take time.
I know you are considering the Glacier area. It is one of my favorite areas of the state. Great backcountry outside the park there.

Thanks, NW and Southwest Montana especially farther away from Missoula, Butte and Bozeman are in my top picks with Alaska south of the Arctic Circle and Wyoming off the I-80 corridor rounding out the top 3 places I want to be.
Eventually when the kids are a bit older we'll move back to Alaska for a few years as I feel I have a lot of unfinished business up there.
When I am in my mid 50's (15 years from now) we want to move teach school in Europe, South America or Africa. But we want our kids a little older.
