New Nosler Accubond Long Range!

I will be exploring these in both the 6.5 129 and the 30 190g. I hope they get them out this winter so I have all winter to shoot them. This is some exciting stuff as I already love the current nosler accubonds.

I read somewhere March 2013 is when they'll be out.

To me the bc numbers look quite inflated, but im no expert. Usually the g7 # is slightly less than half of the g1... So it looks like the 6.5 is the only one that would be close to right, which was demonstrated by whisky earlier with his form factor calculations.

Luckily the 6.5 is the only one I am really interested in... Have a lightweight 260 build planned for the near future. The 7mm 150 will be really nice for the 7mm08 shooters out there as well as long as it it somewhat close to the listed numbers.

I will be trying the 129gr 6.5 as soon as it's available, as well as the 150gr 270. They are supposed to be on shelves in March.

Also a Nosler moderator on their forum said they are designed to work with standard factory twists. Here is what I read there.

The AccuBond-LR bullets will be available in stores by the end of March 2013.

We designed this year's offerings to stabilize in standard twist rate barrels when loaded to standard book velocities, hence the 6.5mm 129gr. We determined that a 140gr would be too long to stabilize in standard twist barrels. We will consider offering longer, heavier designs intended for faster-than-standard twist barrels in the future.

Keep in mind, this is just our initial offering and we will be expanding the line in the future. If we aren't yet offering the weight or caliber that you want, let us know as we do take your requests into account when designing new products.

I think when we have the bullets in hand and can double chronograph them (shoot them through two consecutive chronographs we will know for sure.

wow, the lowest weight .30 bullet is 190gr.

Most bullets for the bigger calibers are shaped like flying 5 gallon buckets. In Alaska we call them honey buckets, I can assure they are not full of honey.

I have asked for a high BC bullet in 416 and 375 on both Hornady and Nosler respective facebook pages, lots of times.

The only game in town on high BC bullets in either caliber is expensive and not that consistant.

My friend Lutz Moeller makes high BC bullets in Germany for both calibers, and so does Jurgen Schultz of South Africa. But getting them here is impossible. And they are both drive band homogenous bullets.

Update: I just called Nosler and they confirmed over the phone that their expectation is that they should be on the shelves in July.

Guess I have time to read up, gear up, watch a DVD or try and find a reloading class out my way. I'm brand new to reloading but I've decided to take the reloading plunge.

With the way things are in the industry right now I would not hold my breath. Try finding some .308 caliber Barnes LRX or Hornady GMX anywhere....might as well be trying to find bigfoot or the tooth fairy.
