for what it's worth we have a forest service cattle lease in the Pecos, driest I have ever seen the country. Last week checking stock we saw 70-100 elk in one herd in a "greener" area. We are running 1/5 our allotment and will probably pull them early
Hey Zia, not trying to change the thread but I just wanted to say that I appreciate the fact that you are conscientious about the drought conditions and are willing to adjust accordingly, I have seen some who do not.
I do understand it effects your business and wish the best for you.

Zia, what area do you pasture your cows at? My dad used to graze his cows in the Round Mountain area towards Beatty's...Just curious if i know you?

Made a pretty good loop horseback for 3 days, HOLY CRAP its dry. Saw one nice group of 12 velvet bulls in one herd and a few herds of cows mosty 8-15 head at a time. Didnt see the big groups we had a few weeks ago , seems like they spread out looking for food. Saw 3 bears and quite a few deer which is unusual. A few large groups of hikers.......baptists or boy scouts not sure which.
