Well I guess this has been a long time coming. First, I live to glorify my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ but admittedly fall woefully short all too often. Second, keep my beautiful wife priority number two and as happy as possible. Third, hunt & fish as much as humanly possible while maintaining gainful employment teaching and coaching. There is more but why not let the pictures do some talking. I enjoy being part of this fray and cannot thank the other members enough for entertainment and tips/tactics. God Bless!
My wife and her first bull.
Mackinaw and Me with an early season Goose.
My 2012 opening day bull that I did not recover until opening day 2013... the look on my face shows the mix of emotions. What a waste!
I'll introduce myself here since I've been a member since 2012, and never managed to put an introduction post together.
I've been married for 18 years and a 40 year old father of three daughters age 16, 13, and 7. I grew up on a dairy farm in Northern California, escaped to Idaho for college and met my wife in Biology lab. Despite plans to establish myself in the Rocky Mountains, I found myself back in California raising the 5th generation on the ranch, and working as a nutritionist, formulator, and retail store manager for a feed company for the last 15 years.
Having a job "in town" gave me my first real vacation time and I make an annual hunting trip or two out of state when I can draw the tags. My primary focus is on Elk both with bow and rifle. My best achievement has to be my 2010 Archery Tule elk from the Owens Valley.
My goal is to kill an elk in each one of the Western 11 states. So far I have Oregon, Wyoming and California checked off.
Memorable Wyoming bulls
I grew up hunting Blacktails along the coast here. That gave me a good foundation for spot and stalk, and stillhunting for Mule deer and even an Idaho Whitetail.
Last Fall's Mule Deer
In the off season I train for trail runs with younger and more attractive people than I...It keeps me motivated.
I'm Jen :) I've been a member since forever ago. I occasionally go MIA but always come back around! I work on my parents ranch outside of Sheridan,Wy. I also guide and cook for an outfitter here in Wyoming, I work for a tv show called His & Hers Outdoors and I write for bowhunting.net and alti2udeoutdoors.com. I'm a single mom of two kids and I'm not sure what free time is anymore but wouldn't change it for anything.
Yeah I suppose "old" member applies (I'm 64). I'm Ray and I've been hunting and fishing most of my life. I grew up in Northern California and I've hunted most of the Western states for deer and elk. Not so much for elk anymore since I've really been hooked on big bucks. I'd rather deer hunt than hunt anything else...even with a camera when I don't get drawn. I really enjoy hunting with friends and family.
I can't play the points game anymore since time is not on my side. I still have 8 points in Nevada and I hope to get a deer tag soon! This year would be great! Here are a few photos, a few are from "back in the day"...you know, before digital cameras...LOL!
I still like to get after the fish. Here is one from last weekend.
Very nice thread and great pictures.
Hello all I am Leonard. I do get a few comments on my Chiefgobbler name choice. Basically 32 years in the Fire Service (retired a few years back) and my Turkey hunting passion including a NWTF World Slam is where the name originated. I will be 61 next week so I am trying to cash in on points I have accumulated across the west while I can still hump the hills. Started hunting 50 years ago thanks to my Dad and Grandfather and still love hunting a wide variety of game. Hunting with family and a few close friends is the norm for me.
I have only won 1 lottery, the last year draft lottery during the Vietnam war. I chose to enlist in the Air Force to learn a skill I could use in the private sector when I got out. They made me a weapons mechanic, gun services specialist for 20mm cannons. Grew up a lot in those years. Although I did not come out with a very marketable field I would not trade the experience for anything.

I saw a nice bull last year the day before season started but couldn't find them again.. This year me and a buddy drew out for Elk first season in unit 54.. starting to do some research and hopefully make a couple scouting trips up there soon. .
