I have the rifle tag this year. I'll be up there a couple of times to scout in July/Aug and then 6 days before season starts. I sent you a PM with my contact info.

I drew one of 15 Northeastern General bull tags here in CA.

The dates are awesome from 9/18 - 9/29. I think I can get one scouting trip in August and also 5 days of scouting before season starts.

Never have pulled a Savage or Browning, but just put a new Timney on a rem 700 CDL SF I just bought and I don't think there is a better trigger made. It is incredible how smooth and crisp it is. ...

I got to a new waterhole on the last day and had to set up my blind. As I approached it at 6:00 am this buck and two does and a fawn were about 500 yards away and walking away...

I too prefer the angled over the straight spotters.

One thing I would probably do instead of the Vortex is find a used non-HD Swaro ATS spotting scope. The non-HD versions are cheap and a killer...

I can't see why the fawn crop is going to hurt your hunt unless you're after a yearling buck. A decent buck is going to be 5+ years old and not impacted by this year's fawn crop. This could impact...

Since the trees in the background look like mtn mahogany I'm going to say it's a NV bull too. In many NV units the mtn mahogany grows quite tall and dense if it get's old enough.
