Yeah I was really considering the Tikka as well. I just like the 700 as far as tactical purposes go.
I have 2 Pre-64 Model 70s in 30-06 and .270. Then I have 4 more 70s in 25-06, 7mm Rem Mag, .300...

I by no means need any more guns, since I have 5 shotguns and 12 rifles, but I am looking at selling or trading some in for a cailber I've always wanted. I'm looking into .308s. The sheer number of...
Guess I had fumble fingers for that post, my bad.
Game over I guess :)
Yeah, I got him right in the neck at 120 yards. He saw me, turned to bolt, and I threw down the hammer.
No, I'm in a general browtine bull area. I just haven't had the luck needed for that long. I've come close several times. It's just with the sheer number of hunters around here, you just have to be...
Thanks!
We can play a little game here too...see if anyone can guess where he was shot.
Well it took 12 years, but I finally bagged my first bull. Spotted a small herd at about 400 yards, but another hunter spooked them. I took a chance at where I thought they might spin around and come...
Anywhere near Ovando?
Were you in the Bob?
My .338 Mag is shooting 185gr Hornady's at 3,000+ FPS so I think 220 out of an 06 is a bit much.
Found a new favorite for my .338 Mag
Hornady Superperformance 185gr GMX
Controllable recoil, hard hitting and flat shooting. I smoked the 4" steel target 5 times in a row at 300 with them....
Hmm interesting...I got a letter from Helena saying I was successful.
I drew a big buck tag for unit 291 near my hometown. Always a great place for muleys. But no sheep tag this year.
Spotted what we guessed to be around a 380-390 class set of sheds, but they were on private land that is heavily watched. As tempting as it is, it's just not worth it. Was fun to see them though....
Well, I took a family friend of mine (former game warden) out to the private land these sheep are on. We watched the herd for about 2 hours before the big boy stepped out. The guy has shot a 191 ram...
Is the barrell a Les Baer? It would fit the profile you described, but I don't think they do a 270 WSM.
17 HMR with 17gr Hornady V-Max --- dime size groups at 200 only with that bullet for me. Anything else is way off.
7 Mag with 160gr Winchester Supreme Accubonds --- quarter size groups at 300
.338...
Anything Weaver or Nightforce, I highly recommend. Also, while cheaper, FireField has some nice optics. I have a scope of theirs on my 6mm and it took 3 shots to get dead on.
Got my bachelor's in Graphic Design last May. Worked for a county road department for 6 months before being laid off in January. Been jobless looking for something in my degree ever since. Tough time...
There's still plenty of snow, just not down as low as I was. Once you get up to the Forest Service roads, it's still close to not being able to drive through.
Took this on Saturday with my phone. It was a sow with 3 cubs with her. I got within 10 yards before one of the cubs spooked and they all took off.

Do you have a specific unit you are looking at? Or are you basing it off East/West in the state? Some of the best Western units are closed for sheep due to high pneumonia outbreaks, which is...
I have a 6mm Remington with only a 20" barrel and it shoots like a dream from 300 and in. At about 350+ it starts to behave on it's own.
Before anyone asks, I was not in the military. This jacket is my father's. He served 35 years.

I own a 6mm, .270, 30-06, 7 Mag, and a .338 Mag. Out of all those, my 7 Mag outperforms them up and down. It's a custom Winchester Model 70 with my own bells and whistles, but it shoots quarter size...
