Good to hear you are out of CA ;)
That is kind of the whole reason why I hunted for such a big buck. I won the free mount from the Relentless 365 Magazine. So, I had that season to get something down that I would want...
Thanks guys/gals for the votes....that is AWESOME!
Also a big thanks to Eastmans for putting on the contest
Monday September 1st 2012 marked the beginning of what may now be a tradition. I was lucky enough to glass and put an effective spot-and –stalk on a forked horn mid-day. I circled around...
get to a store that has them in stock (the pack) and try it on. If they allow returns, buy it and load it up and hike with it. Make sure it fits you well. I have the J104 and J34. I like both packs,...
I cannot say I have done extensive spotter tests, but I did do a very big bino test.
for me, I found that there was a significant difference using a bino in the terrain I was going to hunt...
thanks for posing them both up ;)
awesome bucks for sure...not as close looking as I thought, but it was 4 years ago
I have been known to stop by the store from time to time...those little baskets have good stuff sometimes, LOL.
They have been helpful everytime I have gone in.
I am a huge fan of the tiburon...
I tried to find the buck Jerry shot a few years back and cannot seem to get that pic..... I remember it having trash as well....do you remember his buck? did it have the same...
for lightweight backpacking the ED50 and Vortex 50 are your best bet hands down.
If you don't mind carrying more weight I really like my ED 60. They are discontinued and I picked it up real cheap...
How are you taining the dogs to hit not only the bears but the cougars and not other "game"? Command from the start of a good fresh track?
thanks for posting up more picks....that bear is a tank for sure...the first pic you posted of him didn't do it justice...Big ol'brute!
Great looking group of hounds!
Awesome buck.... Best of luck when you guys draw again!
Great story...Your one tough mother..hunting with hounds aint for the faint of heart!
If you got more pics of the beast post them up....and maybe some more of the pups!
that is a beautiful buck!
He looks soo much like the one I tried to take during archery season.....were you by chance near a Wilderness area?
I have found many don't know how to build arrow correct. Maybe a good shop, but the box stores are garbage (my experiences).
I highly recommend building them yourself if you see yourself shooting...
Well if I cannot connect with one in B zone and I suppose you could twist my arm to help thin the herd in your neck of the woods!
Bad year for B zone...I think the houndsman tore it up last year...
I believe Columbian Blacktails are in CA, WA and OR. and Sitka blacktails are in AK.
that is odd.
if your able to get back out and look for him, I would suggest it. There is no way the bull will live with one lung, he is dead somewhere..you just got to find him.
here is my biggest.
what did the arrow and blood show?
how much of the arrow had blood?
why do you have to stay put?
two full days of scouting (dawn/dusk + dawn/dusk) would be more productive then just one full day of scouting. I would use the two days before the season to scout out...
for that price you can almost pick up a discountinued ED 60 which is far superior to that model.
If what you want to do is science based in the field then I would suggest getting on any and all part time, seasonal, student assistant/aide, volunteer jobs you can with either the Feds, state,...
