i think a lot of it depends on the burn, if its nuked black most likely there wont be any elk for a while, but if its a dirty burn leaving islands of green and not a ton of scorched areas i have seen...

There are way to many predators in Idaho. All have an effect on the herds im sure.

Go hike the stairs in one of those sky scrapers you guys have back east. That should help some. Thats the only way i can see of getting elevation.
