Zim, I was around the drainage you shot your bull earlier this summer, wondered where u went. Maybe you can draw next year, good luck! We will be horseback in the pecos quite a bit in the next few...
good luck Jay!
I was in the Pecos Sunday, lots of bugling, about got run over by some cows and a nice bull. Anybody having any luck?
just for a few hours , caught some fish but didnt see any elk. Been in 16a and heading to Wyoming tomorrow....good luck on your hunt!
bulls in 16d screaming, 16a more sporadic, one day a ton of bugling then quiet. I saw two large bulls ( 350-370) already with harems, seems to be an early rut. Didn't see any bears the whole weekend,...
surprised at the number of bugles I heard yesterday in 16, much different than last year. Not sure what that means but it was nice to see/hear.
ntspdy, my cell phone is pretty spotty once I get in the canyon above Pecos, I do get some coverage on top of and west of Trail Riders and S.Truchas where I can see Espanola from altitude. On the...

Sorry no elk pictures this trip, saw 100-120 but they were lower in the bowls below timberline.
Just got back from another salting trip, packed 400# . The gps said 29 miles, highest elevation 12,614 feet (last trip it was 12,640 feet). Tired, beat-up horses and rider...I will try to post some...

Doesn't look like finding elk should be a problem, saw large groups of 50 or so cows, calves and spikes in several different drainages. The bigger bulls were of course off by themselves in groups of...
Will be horseback on the east side for a few days hauling salt, be back late next week, let you know what I see.
lucky as well, I drew the second hunt in 16a last year and the first hunt this year....good luck to you, should be fun!
16a archery elk, already drew a Wyoming archery elk in the Bighorns.....busy September. Wife drew first choice muzzleloader elk and oryx. Son drew his deer tag, daughter 0 fer.
That is great news Taz, congratulations! Hope you can post some pictures. Good job!
I didn't see him, but if he hunted the area you were in I would have missed him.
Way to go Jay and son, great bull!! Well deserved, that snow made for some "interesting" hunting. Our bugling activity was all Saturday, one friend had one misfire (only primer fired) on a 5x5 with 3...

Just got back last night, we had to come back early as my brother-in-law got bad altitude sickness. couldn't breathe, eat or even talk. Made for a quiet camp and saved on food but hard to kill...
Very nice buck Jay! Congratulations!
Great job Zim!! Inspiring mental and physical toughness, way to go!
