I picked this up today at a tiny gun shop in Woodland Park Colorado. We also got an AK47 with laminated stock.
Its the Prairie River Arms - Bull Pup in .50cal.
I checked at the store and...
I'd push them with a minimum of 90gr. Im shooting them out of a sidelock now with 90gr 2f goex and they are tack drivers at 100 yards.
CVA Scout compact in .243

This is from 100 yards as well with 90gr Goex but my home cast 250gr R.E.A.L conicals and a lubed wad. I was pretty happy with this load and ready to use it come September but that darn Thor changed...
I honestly have no clue who made the rifle, it shows it was a home built by the looks of some inletting where they started to carve out the barrel under rib in the wrong spot before correcting it...
Wanted to try some Thor bullets in my favorite muzzleloader. I decided to give 90gr Goex 2f a try along with a 250gr .500" Thor conical. The results were outstanding! I was planning on using the 250...
Recovered Thor was 247 grains. The ballistic tip weighs 3 grains.
BH209! Its THE best powder on the market IF your muzzle loader can shoot it of course. In your case, i would NOT recommend it as...
Yep, You won't have any problems with the Thors expansion.
Recovered from one deer.

I use an assortment of muzzleloaders, mainly my cva optima .50cal, cva wolf and now my new 50cal sidelock.
I much prefer the cva brand as tc's can be pure hell trying to get conicals to shoot in...
lookin darn good! next time try 100gr BH209 and give it a full 10 minutes in between shots to cool down the barrel.
no surprise. TC doesnt even recommend full bore projectiles due to their QLA issues. They have been cutting the QLA off center of the bore and when the bullet exits the muzzle, pressure escapes...
without a doubt! www.thorbullets.com email them for a free sizing sample. Give him my user name on your next order and he'll give you 10% off your order.
So late this evening i decided to try a couple new loads. Colorado "Someone off of my forum" had great success with his new wolf and 90gr BH209 with the 250gr Aerolites. I figured i'd try it @ 100...
No thats a horrible bullet to use on elk. I know its a lot heavier that a centerfires normal bullet but you are dealing with a .50cal bore and soft pure lead that has a deep hollow point. Fragment...
Since i drew a new mexico mule deer hunt for muzzle loader season i wanted something special and so i ordered a CVA Optima. I already have one, but i wanted a thumbhole version as i like them better....
They got rid of it last year.
If its not listed in the big game booklet, its no longer in action. It was a stupid rule in the first place that limited people to shooting lighter weight projectiles.
Checked out the NM G&F website at 12:01AM and found that i drew my first tag in new mexico on my first try!
My brother in law and i both put in for unit 57 and got it for muzzle loader season. We...
Plunger style would be ok, Maybe even a traditional sidelock.
i enjoy the truglow ghost ring rear sight and the truglo globe front sight.
These help me out as well, They take some getting used to but the clarity it offers just by focusing your eye is simply...
TC's normally arent a gun for the guy having to use full bore conicals. TC's faith in them shooting conicals is so low that if you call them and ask about conicals, they will flat out tell you their...
the back door method doesnt always work. Thats why i just called DOW, gave them my CID # and the guy looked it up and told me what i drew.
put in for unit 84 for muzzle loader season. Called DOW yesterday and i drew my buck tag but not my bull tag :( i now have 2 pref points for bull.
