Edelweiss, I was thinking around $2500, maybe a little more. I would probably go with a #3 taper barrel, & a brown precision stock if he still does elephant hide on them. Maybe a teflon coat too, not...

Thanks for the info guys! What I'm thinking about is making a semi custom 300 mag. I was looking at taking apart a Winchester extreme weather because I don't really like the stock. But I've also...
What do you think is the best bolt action for a rifle? I've been looking at Dakota Arms & Winchester because I've been wanting a controlled round feed. Does anyone have any preferences as to which...
If you become a resident in BC, you can hunt in the Yukon as a nonresident Canada citizen, right? Or how long would one have to live in the Yukon after moving there to not be considered an alien?
I have the longbow & love it. Also have a dragonslayer, which has the same frame as the big horn. That frame is a little lighter & more comfortable, but you can be ready for anything with the NICE...
I have a friend who has guided for several tv shows. They film the animal dying, then reenact the shot to give the appearance of 1 shot, drop dead kills.
I usually just quarter the elk & pack it out using a frame pack. It takes 4 trips with a bigger bull but I find less meat is wasted without boning. I just try to shoot less than 5 miles away.
Oops, I see you are a resident. Try hunting along timberline east from Woodchuck Pass. That's pretty easy access into the high country.
You are only legal to hunt in the wilderness if you are a residents, nonresidents must have a guide.
This boot is awesome! I've worn them for the last year, went with the Alaska this year. I'll be getting another set soon. They fit my narrow feet well, & I've had a hard time finding good boots that...
That was a good pounding you dished out! Hope you gave that corner man a hard time!
Excellent pics! I try to spend a lot of time up the Green myself.
My custom Remington 700 in 300 Win Mag. Shooting 180 gr Sierras through it. I trust this rifle for everything!
I have hunted 48 in the past. If you take the BLM road west from Hwy 77, there is a campground on the edge of the Shirley Mountains right as you enter area 48. There is a substantial amount of...
As a general rule in Wyoming, the County Roads, Highways, and Forest Service roads are public. If you are on one of these roads, and on public land, then 2 tracks will also be public until you get...
Thanks Hillbilly, any other info that you have would be very appreciated!
Take a look at Brown Precision. A little pricey, but the one I have they overmolded with a stuff they called Rhino Hide. It makes for a very slip resistant finish. HS-Precicsion also makes some...
Head North out of Laramie to the Shirley Basin. There's lots of public land over there, and it shouldn't be too hard to find some does. I used to hunt in area 48 while I was in college there.
Thanks for the info guys. I have looked up the Alaska Outdoor Forums, and that is where I found the info on Deltana. I was just hoping to find someone with some personal experience that was not on...
Has anyone used Deltana Outfitters for a DIY hunt? Or if not, any other recommended outiftters for a DIY caribou in August?
If you like mountain man books, try Mountain Man by Vardis Fisher or The Big Sky by A.B. Guthrie. Those are my two favorite books of all time. The Monkey Wrench Gang is always another good one. ...
If I was to do it all over again, it would be a Win Model 70 or a Rem 700 action, a Brown Precision or HS Precision stock, a Shilen SS barrel in #3 taper, and top it off with a Swaro Z6 scope. I've...
I sure did! In my opinion, that is one of the best books from the mountain man era. Probably read it 20 times, woulda thought I could remember the title.
That is the Best Movie Ever! I wish someone would create one based on the book The Big Country by A.B. Guthrie. If you really like this movie, try reading Crow Killer all about Jeremiah Johnson!
Has anyone used the Blue Widow pack? How does it carry a load compared to the Mystery Ranch packs? I have been thinking about adding one to my pack collection, and am wondering about how it...
