Gotta agree with you. Altitude is a major thing. Getting aclimated to the area hunting is major. We have all heard of the migh high advantage. That the broncos and the nuggets use. When I'm hiking I...
Hello and welcome.
Like I said I work at 10,000 feet. It conditions me just fine. Maybe it wouldn't work for you. 10,000 is in the mountains. And physically working is not walking around in a house.
So, if you...
Hang tough.. and stick to your family values. It does take death to eat meat. Alot of people really can't get a grip on this. They think if they don't do the dirty work and process the animal. They...
just being and working at an altitude above 7000 ft. is enough.
You can take a hike around your house and not be wasted. Right?
I have worked at above 10,000 ft and when hunting season came it was...
awesome job! amazing hunt
Hijacked thread?
not much snow. It's coming here and there. Gunni is cold as always tho
That would be awesome.. Can you imagine being 18 again. The entire world in front of you. Alaska, why not?
I've always wanted to get there.. someday
always a ton of hunters out here. The worste part is when they shoot at the same animal the saw you stalking on.
But Colorado allows these OTC archery, 2nd, 3rd, seasons. And alot of money comes...
how did you do?
nice bull!
They might be there in your area. But do they know what you know? patterns.. trails.. bedding areas and times of day where they are? I hate seeing other hunters I usually try to avoid all people....
Greatest funny moment..
Me and my wife were watching a meadow.. 2 does came out. 1 doe looked around and charged the edges of the meadow.. Then she just started prancing around all spazzing off....
hope your dads ok. I can relate.
This weather has been nice. I'm waiting to see some white capped mountains soon.
plenty of places to hike..
Usually they are still making some noise. The big bulls have moved on.. There are decent sized satalites around to be taken. But the big bulls took care of business and are hunkered down..
unit 70 has some great deer. I've killed a few there. It really is a good spot. I wonder if 61 is worth the points. seems more like a elk unit
thanks That's a good spot. next to the utah trophy unit. I hunted the utah side but not the colorado side yet.
I've never hunted anything bigger than elk. But i have dropped elk at 420 yards and seen many a deer fall to my 7mm with 150 grain.
i want to get another gun just cuz. But the ol 7mm gets the job...
I don't see how a 22-250 wouldn't kill a wolf. Shot placement is everything. I watched my sister kill a mule deer buck at 380 yards with one shot with a 22-250.
But, again shot placement is...
unit 61 has some real nice bucks. in the lower country. being 70 it will take some walking but not above tree line
