region Y; about as close to 100% as you can get. Region R, some part are a little more open, and you might have some coming out into the fringes of the BLM and maybe some resident deer out in the BLM.

Prayers sent from my family to yours.
I am an Infantry Officer in the US Army, currently assigned as a Battalion Executive Officer. Other than the occasional forced vacation; we get 30 days of leave a year, and as long as we aren't...
Another vote for the Salomon's I have the Quest 4d GTX's, a step down from the cosmics. They are awesome! I have had great luck with them.

I'll pile on. Obenauf's HD LP here too!
I am a big fan of heat packs as well. Try throwing them in your sleeping bag as well. I have been able to pack in a little lighter bag as it gets colder by throwing the heat packs in, and then I use...
Ahhh....I didn't realize these were chinese made, but now that I look I should have picked up on the fact that they make a point of saying they are Schott glass. I guess being chinese made isn't the...
Has anyone had a chance to put there hands on a pair of these yet? I am looking at getting a pair for bowhunting here in MN and keeping in the truck.
If you have, how do they compare against...
I was hunting region Y, both on and off the NF. Unfortunately, I was only out there on a short scouting trip and I had too much ground to cover to spend more than a day in each area I wanted to check...
It is for Deer & Elk. Antelope opens in August. I went out to WY during the archery season for the first time last year, and the amount of bucks I saw compared to during the rifle season was amazing....
I have this same pack w/ the spike duffel, and I have had good luck with it. A couple of observations I have made:
I would caution against bringing enough stuff with you to fill the main...
Wyoming opens on 1 september for most of the state. IMO Archery hunting the general areas is better than rifle, and the tags there are still relatively inexpensive.
No experience with 64 or 60, but I would consider Region R for a second choice, I have seen some nice bucks come out of there.
The snow will have the greatest impact on the areas that you can get to, and a lot less impact on the deer. Once the snow hits the roads can get impassable quick. I have never seen the snow push deer...
I would say during rifle season, your best bet for a nice buck would be dropping down into a canyon where they is a clearing along a water source, and then sit there all week long. It is a low...
PP for bulls, and drew a cow/calf in the area we will be hunting Deer. Should be tasty!
I didn't mean to come off as a smarta$$, but ssliger nailed it. I have hunted the bighorn's quite a few times always in region Y (the picture in my avitar was taken on the north end of the Bighorns)....
This statement is a little contradictory. If you want to get away from other hunters, ATV's aren't going to help you do it. Motivation and Stamina will though. Most people you see in the bighorns...
If you want to get some low bases I really like the Talley's, but you also cannot go wrong with leupold dovetails IMO. Both should provide you more than enough elevation for 6-700m.
Good luck
A couple of questions:
1. Are you married to the idea of a 1 piece, picatinny style base?
2. Do you need the 20 moa base for long range shooting? Unless you are going to be shooting out to 900+, 20...
Check this site out. It is called "Sample List" the majority of the optics on here have been floor samples/demos, and you can save yourself a couple hundred bucks in alot of cases. Don't overlook...
+1 on VTBwana's reccomendation. I do the same thing and it works slick. A weeks worth of handwarmes weighs alot less than the heavier bag will.
You might think about how to stabilize the propane heater. Very little flat ground on a mountain.
Backstrap, you will find your cow tied to a spruce at Lat 42.1826 Long 183.2309, JK, ;)
Seriously, I would go with what I mentioned earlier NW corner of 34 along the edge of the NF, maybe look...
We saw some nice deer. The main focus of the hunt was to scout out our plans A, B, and C. between the three areas we saw 1-190"+ (biggest deer I have ever seen on the hoof, and he was on public),...
