Bitterroot Valley, brings back lots of memories of my Grandfather, who was born in Stevensville. It was on my short list for my retirement home. My Great grandmother was a Metcalf, Lee Metcalf (former US Senator) was my Dad's cousin. My grandfather was raised by Ray Metcalf. Long time ago. Beautiful area and have visited it often, but my wife said too cold in the winters. So here we are in SW Colorado, not quite as cold, but still not southern California where we were born! Gramps used to roam the valley when he was a kid with his buddies, hunting & fishing. His Aunt called them the "Burnt Fork Savages". My G Grandmother, Harriet Metcalf Lawrence is in the Stevensville cemetary. Had to share that with you Bitterroot guys.
