They may have some muley blood.....but yes, they have pure black tails. So, they aren't mule deer.

There are some hybrids in the area.....not pure Columbian Blacktail and not pure Rocky Mountain Mule Deer. For record keeping purposes (B&C and P&Y) they are measured as a mule deer. The record book the article is suggesting is almost non-existent.....
