I bought this http://www.manfrotto.com/product/837.../_/Modo_Tripod at Scheels a few years back and have got a lot of great use out of it. It's a little over 2lbs and is very steady. I like the pistol grip head. Once your used to it, it is very easy to work. I bought two extra bases and have one on the camera, bino adapter and spotter. You can adjust it to sit and glass or stand and glass. I adapted a little noose looking thing (550 cord) on the bottom of the center tube to where I can cinch the base down to my pack to keep it steadier on windy days. I paid around 70 bucks for mine.
There are lots of companies that sell great lightweight tripods. I am a big fan of the free floating ball head on my tripods. They weight a little more but there are super nice for glassing. If you can find one that is light your in the honey.
