    First Bull - Montana

Well it took 12 years, but I finally bagged my first bull. Spotted a small herd at about 400 yards, but another hunter spooked them. I took a chance at where I thought they might spin around and come back and it paid off. I was behind a few spruce trees when this boy walked out. Knowing I had a limited opportunity, I took a full freezer over waiting for something better. Took me 4, 2 mile trips to get him out since I was on a solo hunt this morning. Took him at ~120 yards with my Model 70 .338

We can play a little game here too...see if anyone can guess where he was shot.

Nice bull! Did you apply for 12 years?

As far as your game goes: butt?

No, I'm in a general browtine bull area. I just haven't had the luck needed for that long. I've come close several times. It's just with the sheer number of hunters around here, you just have to be in the right place at the right time.

And for the game, you are incorrect. No meat was spoiled with the shot placement.

    Game over I guess

Yeah, I got him right in the neck at 120 yards. He saw me, turned to bolt, and I threw down the hammer.

I thought you shot him at 120 yds?
