    Late season elk hunting tips.

So I got a late season elk tag, and I'm wondering where to find them. I know they migrate and all, and most books I've read say they are on north slopes during early season. Do they stay on the south slopes during the winter to keep in the warmth of the sun? Since I'm in washington state and on the west side, I don't think they migrate very much (unless to go to a unit that's closed). Would they be down in places where they can stay out of the wind? If so, where would I find that?
