    Physically challenged hunter

Tried to post earlier so I hope this doesn't show up twice. I am a recent above the knee amputee, walking very far is not possible. I was planning to do an antelope hunt in Wy before I had to have the surgery and would still like to try. Do you think it is possible with my limitations? If so are there any units that would be better considering my condition? I only have one pp and would wait to get at least one more but don't know if I should, never know what another year will bring. Any info would be appreciated.

The WY Game and Fish offers permits for people with a handicap. You can get a permit that allows you to shoot an animal from a vehicle as long as it is not across a highway. I would get one of those permits if I were you and then pick a unit that has a lot of like methane roads and such to drive down. The area that I hunt is basically like a spider web of roads, you can basically get anywhere back in there on the methane roads and such and it is public land. The area that I hunt you should also be able to draw with only one pp.

if i'm not mistaken, you can also go hunting a week earlier as well to improve your chances of getting your animal

If you hunt down around the red desert or ferris mountains, there are a lot of like two track roads that you can drive down. You can basically drive all over the place down there. That's where I would check out. I hunted down there while I was 7 months pregnant and was able to mainly drive since my fat little waddling butt didn't want to walk too far. If you want a specific unit, PM me

Jwill, my cousin has the same problem as you and he has taken two antelope in NM in two trips. He said they have been the best two hunting trips he has ever taken. The area he went to had alot of roads which he said it made it alot easier on his leg. So I agree with everyone else look for an area with alot of driving access. Keep your head up and you will get it done! Good luck!!
