Best Coues deer area in Arizona and New Mexico?

Anyone got a good line on what's a good area in Arizona to save my points for? Or the best area in New Mexico to apply for?

Depends on what you are looking for and what you intend on using. Archery or rifle. I went into an OTC unti in Arizona in January and killed mine he green scored 113 7/8

    Archery? No.

Rifle only, probably have to burn some points, doesn't need to be a booner just a nice representative deer.

No preference points here in NM. I would go with unit 23. I've seen more of them little bastards in 23 than anywhere else. I think they have a force field around them that wards off arrows. Not sure how it works with bullets.

I killed a nice buck in Nov. 2012 in Unit 31....no trouble with the permit and I had no points.

I found a Coues deer dead head in the Gila wilderness (16B) that scored 108" and one of his brow tines was broken. If he would have had a matching 5" browtine he would have scored 113". A true GIANT!!!

Check out some of the units along the border in Az. I have buddies that hunt those units and do well. Not a lot of people want to hunt them for obvious security reasons but the hunting is good. I suggest hunting with an A.R for hunting as well as self defense reasons in those units.
A bad day in the woods is better than a good day at work.
