sw elk rut

Any one able to tell me around when the bulls get into the rut in the powers, sixes, and chetco units? My buddy said it's right at end of August or first week of September. He hasnt hunted it in a few years so hoping for something more current. Thank you

I would say Sept 10th is when things really get going but opening day will find some bulls screaming their head off. It just seems like around the 10th they really get going! I've only killed one bull down there as I only hunted that country one year but it was Sept 12th and he had been screaming for two days when I killed him.

When the moon gets full in Sept. Last year i think it was around the 10th. Different herds did different things though. Not sure about the chetco but access is tough in the other 2. Some fed/blm land but the hunting on that is tough to say the least.

I was leaning towards the powers unit. Any specific information that way would be greatly appreciated.
