    Sandhill Crane hunt

We put together a hunt for Sandhill cranes in Lubbock. Even with the drought and the lack of birds we had one of our best years since I've been going. Day 1, 7 man limit in 30 min, Day 2 9 man limit in an hour, Day 3 ended a few birds short so we could get on the road. 71 cranes in 3 days. Love shooting them big birds, and great last weekend of the season capstone.

How do they taste? I've heard em called rib eye of the sky. I've also heard some people think they are gross. We have a ton of them here but we aren't allowed to hunt them

Myself and everyone we hunt with think they are delicious. As with all wild game, don't overcook or you will be disappointed. I find most people who don't like game are the same rubes who order their filets well done.

You are actually 100 miles closer to Lubbock in Alamosa than I am in Houston! Ha! Drove 550 miles to get back home after morning shoot yesterday, long day.

Yeah, I'm not sure how people enjoy a steak when you have to use a quart of sauce to eat it!

    That's a lot of driving!
