I am in the beginning stages of planning a caribou hunt. Has anyone here gone on a caribou hunt in Canada? What are some good outfitters? I know of Safari Nordik but that is about it. I would take any advice. I'm hoping to go in 2014.

I went... Shot a 372 bull. Unfortunately I would not recommend my outfitter. There were 5 guys in camp. 2 of them got their animals taken away and were fined thousands. I was so scared that it was going to happen to me but I guess i got lucky. i understand it is the hunters responsibility to know where they are but we simply relied on the outfitter, in my opinion it's what we paid for. We flew in on a twin otter to the middle of no where, but evidently it was right on the edge of another unit that had closed weeks before.
Anyways... Be careful and if there is the slightest thing a bit odd then simply don't book with them. And do all of your research, don't rely on just them. I guess anyways but it's what you have to do.
I went with Jack Hume Adventures back in 2000 and would go with them again. Ownership of the outfit changed from Jack to his son Richard right about the time I went; I think he has increased the number of outpost camps they have so there are plenty of options to move hunters if there are no caribou around. Prices have gone up a good bit since I went. I would talk to the most recent year's hunters for references as I have heard talk of some caribou herds being on the downswing.
Thanks for the advice!
