What is your budget?
What ranges do you plan to shoot?
Will you be shooting to Maximum Point Blank Range (MPBR) or further?
If further, do you prefer using the reticle to compensate for drop, or dials?
Also, Welcome to Eastmans' Forum!
i wold like to be able to shoot out to 700 yards comfortable and i have used the bdc reticle but not the dial i am interested in the dial meathod. my budget is about 300 to 500 dollars
You don't need as much magnification as you might think to get to 700 yards.
Here are some good options for dialing near your price range. Both are tough scopes from companies that stand behind them:

Some Leupold VX-2 w/ CDS scopes might do the trick too, but the above scopes are going to have a better view.
Leupolds are pretty tough. They have quite the torture test they put their scopes through.

For the caliber of rifle and what you are planning on doing with it, I would go with BB's recommendation of the Vortex Viper. Vortex puts out exceptionally good products for the $. Its a little over your range but I don't think you will be disappointed. Very good optics! Good luck!
I would buy a 4.5-14, 5-20, or 6-18. As for brand, Leupold, Burris, are both "good" Ziess would be better!
K...up your budget or wait...I put a vx-3 on my 300ultra...and it is worth every penny...sighted it in once 4 years ago this spring...you can get the reticle for it and dials...for not much more.
All my Leupolds have gone through quite a torture test! Just seeing all the nicks on the edge of the eye piece on my vxii that has never been knocked off of zero from any of them would prob sell Leupold alot of scopes!
Leupold IMO. My hunting partner shoots 300 win mag and he loves it. I shoot 7mm mag and 338 ultra mag and I also have Leupold on both of them and I wouldn't change them for anything. I shoot to 800 yards on both.
