I too would like to have a good archery tag in my pocket as to a rifle tag, but my favorite would have to be my Ruger MK77 in .338 WM pushiong a 225 grain Accubond.

I just recently made the switch to archery equipment to hunt elk but prior to that I used my dad's 257 WBY which shoots 115 g TSX factory loads. I had to use that instead because my 270 win was getting worked on. The 257 helped me kill both my biggest muley and biggest bull. I also just started reloading so I'm hoping to come up with some good load recipes for all our rifles. I also got a 300 RUM recently that I would like to customize. The 300 will probably be used mainly for long range paper and steel target shooting.

Mine started as a 270 in a plastic stock. Now is a 280 AI. Win model 70 classic stainless action. Hart #3 barrel 25" long. McMillan stock.
Shoots 140 NAB at 2950 FPS about 2" at 300 off bench. 3" off sticks. Trying to work up an elk load with 160 NAB that shoots as well.

This gun has only shot deer sot technically it ain't an elk rifle....yet

I grew up shooting a 30-06 model 70 pre 64. I didnt want to beat that classic up anymore, so I got a model 70 7mm WSM. I took 4 elk with it and was not happy with the performance. So I sold it and got a Remington 700 in .300 Win Mag. Ive taken a few elk with this one, and I am absolutely hooked. I love that gun. It isnt top of the line, but I broke the barrell in properly and it is tack driver now. The downrange performance is awesome.

My original was a Rem 700 7mm, now that gun is for bear using RWS 177 gr. Replacement elk gun is Browning A-bolt with brake and BOSS using Berger 168 gr. with Leupold VX-7L 4.5 x 18 x 56. This is also my long range combo, ie, deer in Ne.

This year I will tote along grandpa's gun - remington 700 in 300 win mag. I put a 3x9 burris on it a few years ago. She spits out 180gr coreloks as good as I can shoot. For a backup a BLR in 270 also wearing a 3x9 burris shooting 130 barnes. Both spend too much time in the safe but I actually have a rifle tag for both deer and elk this year.
