BB, I love the scope. I found it on Midway. I was also debating between the Vortex PST FFP and the Weaver. I read reviews on the internet for 2 months before finally deciding on the Weaver. Both are great scopes and the Vortex warranty is the best but I liked that the Weaver turrets lock. I don't have to worry about accidentally moving them while hunting. I just kept looking between swfa, Brownell's, and Midway until they had one available. Let me know if you go with the Vortex and how you like it.

Remington model 700 .300 win mag or something. I use it like once every 5 years since 95% of my hunting in archery. Made a really big hole in anything it hit.

I shoot a plain-Jane Remington 700 in .270 Win., I loaded 150 gr. Barnes bullets when we lived in Colorado due to longer ranges sometimes encountered there. Here in Arizona where the brush is heavier and ranges are generally shorter I load 130 gr. Barnes TSX or TTSX. Got a Leupold scope on it. Never had a problem, nor a long tracking job.

A tuned up Remington SPS 300 Ultra Mag stoked with 180gr Partitions ove 89gr of RL22 and Fed primers. 1/2 MOA and plenty of smack. I must admit I just picked up a Tikka T3 in 338 Winny that is in contention for "Go to" elk rifle. ABout 3 lbs lighter! At my age that is starting to count.

For heavy timber a 450 Marlin Steyr-Mannlicher with a Burris 1.75-6 Signature scope.

For long range horseback a 338 Lapua in a rebuilt Sako TRG-S with a 28 inch #8 Krieger and a McMillan A-5 stock, right now it's between scopes as I am using the Trijicon 5-20 I bought for it on my Tikka here in Australia.

I have a custom built 7 mag. Sake action, McMillen Stock, Kreiger Barrel w/ Zeiss glass. I am using 180 grain Berger VLD's w/ H1000 powder. It's a hammer.

I hunt with a Browning A-Bolt in .300 WinMag, 3-9 Leupold, shooting 180 grain Nosler Partition handloads. I won the rifle for $1.00 in a raffle about 10 years ago, and it has accounted for elk, moose, antelope, whitetail deer and mulies since then. Good investment!
