Custom 7 Mag built on a Surgeon action, Krieger #4 fluted barrel, McMillen Stock, 20 MOA Base topped with Talley tactical rings holding a NightForce 5.5 X 22 w/ NP-1 reticle. Shooting a 180 grain Berger VLD, Remmy Brass, 63.9 grains of H1000.

Not that I would shoot at an elk this far, but it is consistantly shooting 5.5 inch groups at 1,000 yards.

I have a 460 S&W XVR w/Burris 2 x7 scope on it also. I have some loads with 275 Barnes X w/ Hogdon 110 but believe it or not, I haven't found anything more accurate than the Hornady factory 200 gr XTP load ! Cor Bon w/Barnes were okay. I'd love to hammer an elk or a deer with it or my Ruger Super RedHawk .454 Cassul.

I agree the200 gr hornady are fast and accurate i just want more punch so i went with the barns and i do load with h110 but it to get the extra power i went one grain over max and i still shoot 2inch group at 100 and about 4 4.5 at 200 and theres only like 15 inch drop very perdicable so i just sight in 6 inch hight at 100 and by the time its 200 i just add about a extra 6 or so haha always hits. i trust it now just need to get in range.

Savage 110 30-06 with a Boyd's laminated stock, glass and pillar bedded it myself this spring. Before I did the new stock and bedding and had the original stock the gun seemed to dislike the Federal Vita-Shok bullets I been using with another gun and actually shot much better groups with the Remington Core-Lokts. I'm anxious to see which brand of bullet does best with the new setup. I'll probably shoot the Vita-Shok Nosler partition ballistic tips in 165 grain if they group well.

Looks like I have under estimated the Remington Core-Loks, maybe they don't have the glamor, but they do the job best. hoshour, you have a very good rifle setup, what scope do you have on it?

I agree about the XTP's . They just loaded it with a 200 gr. pointed bullet to get max velocity from it so the could say the fastest straight walled pistol cartridge or something like that when it first came out. I chrono all my loads and the Hornady factory 200 grain wasn't going over 2000 fps out of my 7 1/2 in barrel. I don't remember, something like 1850 fps.
Sorry guy's. Off topic I know.

I use Federal 215 mag primers in my 300 RUM and 7mm Rem mag but in my 357 mag, 44 mag, 454 Casull and 460 S&W I also use CCI mag primers. I've loaded 275,250 and 200 gr. Barnes XPB , 250 and 300 gr. Hornady XTP's and haven't shot the loads yet , 300 and 350 gr. Beartooth hardcast. They even make a 400 or 405 gr. .452 dia. hardcast ! All I tried powder wise is H110 and W296. We better start a different thread or people are going to get pizzed off.
