Eastman MRS shows 74 one of the better units, so I guess it won't hurt to discuss 74. It is the unit I have hunted the most and where I will be this fall. My hunting pard and I have enough pts and have applied for 74 again. I havn't hunted it for 6 or 7 years now as I've been mostly concentrating on elk. I won't be there until a week or so after the opening as both of us have other hunting commitments. There is some private land, usually fenced. While I have seen some great bucks there, the best for me is one thats 16+" and scores in the high 170's.
I normally don't hunt opening week, so I usually never see any other hunters. Get some good topo maps (Rattlesnake Hills) and go from there. In the past there was a lot of gas/oil well activity, but can't answer that now as it's been awhile since I've been there. Plan on camping out as there are almost no motels closer than Shoshone. Used to stay at Hells Half Acre, but it was closed the last time I was thru there.
Hope some of this helps. I probably won't leave Colorado till the 25/26 of Sept, after BP elk season is over....unless I get real lucky!
