Long range bullets, what is everyone using?

I shoot F-Class with the Lapua Scenar in the 139 weight.

For the Lapua I shoot 300 Sierra Match King (SMK).

For .30 cal I use either 190 SMK or 190 Lapua Scenar, but neither on game. For game I use Accubonds, and I have used the Berger quite a bit on kangaroos.

I use the 185 Berger VLD Hunting in the 300 RUM. This year I will be trying the 200 Barnes LRX. I am right now seeing how my 7 mag shoots the 168 Berger, 160 AB, and 168 Barnes LRX. We will see.

My 7-08 is good further out than most would expect with the Barnes 140 TTSX.

What make barrel is on your RUM?

I need to see how they feed out of a AICS magazine, but I am thinking about building a Surgeon or Badger in that caliber.

Not really a fan of a hot .308, as 7mm, 338 and 6.5 have higher BCs. But then again, the RUM is fast!

We had a .308 Warbird Lazzeroni in a Tru-Flight barrel and a Barnard single shot action for 1000 yard benchrest. What a hammer. But the shop I part time in got it 2nd hand and the barrel twist was wrong for heavy bullets. So we shot 168 Grain Nosler and 165 (?) Bergers .

I think someone is going to order another .308 barrel for it since have the Brass, and try it again. The warbird died at 650 rounds. Wow Lazzeroni brass is crap.

I have the factory Remmy barrel on there, but the throat is getting long. I think its next barrel will be from Benchmark barrels. I have a Douglass Match on the 7-08, and I really like that barrel too.

There are some good high-BC pills available for the .308. I am curious about how the 200 LRX is going to turn out. I have heard rumors that real-world BCs on that one are around .6 G1.

I use Barnes LRX for my 338 ultra mag. I'm not a compition shooter but I'm very happy with my groups at 1000 yards. Mauser action, Match Grade Barrel.

I hand load the 160 gr AB, factory Rem 700 7 mm mag. Composite stock, floated barrel, bedded action, tuned factory trigger and topped with a 4-12 X 50 mm Leupy with M1 elevation turret. This setup will shoot MOA or less out to 800 yrds.

I shoot Berger vld 168 gr. our of 7mm mag 700adl

I jumped on the bandwagon. I switched to this bullet last year and haven't drawn a tag since so I can't tell you how effective it is but they are accurate.

    300 gr. Berger Gen. 2

I'm not a Berger fanboy but this bullet is straight up nasty.

I wonder how that 300 Berger .338 bullet works on game.

Nosler started loading the 300 .338 Accubond. I think that would be a good system as well.

I can tell Drhorsepower, you will like the results of the 168 Berger VLD. I shoot to 600yds, thats only half of 1000. Bone stock Browning is sub minute in upto 15mph wind to 600 yds. A whitetail buck shot last year in Ne fell out of sight so fast I thought he had escaped into a coule. I hear stories, but I have had great results with that bullet, sorry I havent recovered a bullet yet.
