    Specialty Pistols anyone got one?

    I used to have this custom XP-100 in 284. The old man used it to take a pronghorn buck with a few years ago (2005? maybe).

    Bought it for $500 at Rocky Mountain Sports in Riverton, sold it online about 2 years later for $1300.

    It had a custom barrel, HS Precision pistol stock, Burris 2-7 scope, and they had done some weird things to the bolt handle.

    I used to be really into TC Contender pistols before the Encore came out. You can really tie up a lot of money in TC Encore and Contender swag.

    I shoot SP's quite a bit and have for years. I bought my first Contender in 1979 and have had a love/hate relationship with them ever since. I have flirted with XP's and Strikers too but am currently in the break open business with three Contenders and an Encore.

    I have a contender, love it. It is vern jenke modified! Contender guys know who vern is!

    Yep,
    That one was a 6.5-20 VariX-III, the gun was wearing a cut down .243 rifle barrel at that time and that was as big as I felt comfortable shooting without a brake, even at that I had to be careful. I have since replaced the Savage with an Encore with a custom 6MM-.284 barrel.
